MY STORY

It was in August of 2020 that I nervously stepped on the scale and looked down to see the highest number that had ever stared back at me. After years of eating junk and treating my body like garbage, every wrong decision I made had finally caught up with me. Realizing that if I stayed on the path I was on, I would not be around for my children much longer. That’s when reality hit, and I knew I had to make a MAJOR change. Fast forward to 2023, and I had lost 148 lbs. and have kept it off since. My weight loss journey saved my life, my marriage and my family, and it’s now my passion to help others do the same.

I personally know the challenges and depression that come with being disgusted with yourself. I was so tired of hiding and being ashamed and embarrassed all the time. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and watching my life from the sidelines. I dreaded the thought of buying clothes and would hide behind the sunvisor in my car every day to completely avoid being seen by anyone. I remember taking a trip to Savannah, GA with my husband, Lee, in May of 2020 where I found myself out of breath and needing to sit every few minutes while trying to enjoy a walk down River Street. I was about to turn 31 years old at the time and was too out of breath to walk more than a few steps.

I received bloodwork from my doctor in July of 2020 and was hit with the reality that I was not only considered morbidly obese, but I was also prediabetic. I was at breaking point and could no longer live in shame and self-hatred.

I researched and started the ketogenic, aka keto, diet, which consists of food high in healthy fats, moderate in protein, and limited in carbs for the purpose of having the body burn fat, instead of carbs, for energy. I began to strictly track the macronutrients I was taking in, careful to consistently follow keto principles. I remember just how overwhelming it was to think about working with a trainer or going to a gym when I first started this journey. I couldn’t bear the thought of receiving judgment from others at such a vulnerable time, so I walked on a treadmill in my garage 3-4 days per week instead. I started seeing results immediately and never looked back.

I set a goal of losing 100 pounds in one year on the keto diet and publicly tracked my journey through social media and an online blog that I started to document my highs and lows of the journey. With a ton of research and trial and error, I designed workouts for myself that continued my weight loss and broke through the many plateaus I encountered. I ended up exceeding my goal and losing 100 pounds in only 9 months! From there, I lost another 48 pounds with consistent diet and exercise. To say my life has changed through this weight loss journey is an understandment, and I hope my story proves that you are never too far gone!
